Why you should join the John Innes Society

There is strength in numbers and knowledge and by becoming a member of the John Innes Society you will be participating in conserving and enhancing this historic green oasis of peace amid the noise and bustle of south-west London. The John Innes Society was founded to resist a damaging development proposal for GLC high rise flats and, aware that similar threats to the area can come at any time, we aim to keep a pump-priming fund so that protests can be more than verbal.

The Society offers enormous benefits to its members through its Newsletter, website and its full range of local activities and by providing a friendly setting to meet and work with other people of all ages with shared interests. For instance, our gardening group led to the formation of the Friends of the John Innes Park. The Friends are a group of public-spirited volunteers who meet regularly to keep the Park worthy of its Green Flag Award status. They supplement the limited amount of maintenance the Council can provide, so that the Park is a colourful place for everyone to enjoy.

We always welcome volunteers to help with all our activities and events and to join our Committee.
